Today’s card is another Thank you card, you can never have enough thank you cards in the drawer! I’ve broken out my embossing powders and had a play.
Here’s how I made it.
I began by taking a single sheet of Very Vanilla cardstock and marking the centre to cut with my Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer, into two A5 pieces. I then changed the blade on the trimmer to the scoring blade, and scored in half to make a C6 size card.
Now, Stampin’ Up! Inks are a water based, fast drying, almost instant ink, which means that you can emboss with them, but you have to be super fast!! So, if you’re not prepared for your embossing like myself before you’ve inked it up, this neat little trick will the useful to know!
What you do to emboss, is choose your stamp, I have the large floral swirl from ‘Baroque Motifs’, take your clear VersaMark ink pad (The best ink pad ever, if you don’t own one.. why ever not?! They are sooo juicy and do wonders!) and take it directly to your stamp, inking well.
Next take your chosen Stampin’ Up! Ink Pad colour, I have used Mellow Moss, and ink up your stamp with the colour. You’ll have a nice wet layer on your rubber stamp. Now stamp your image onto your card front.
Now what you’ll see that you have a wet image on your card, with the Mellow Moss on the bottom, followed by that all important VersaMark layer on top.
Have your clear embossing powder ready, tip a generous amount over the image, into another tray or scrap paper to save the precious powder! Heat with Stampin’ Up! Embossing Tool.
It will take a few seconds to heat, but it will soon catch on, just make sure you move the tool around. It doesn’t need to be waved, just a slow movement in little circles I find works best. And.. tada! One embossed image!
Now, if you’re quick, you can cover with another layer of embossing powder, but I didn’t think this needed it. I have then finished the card off by using the ‘thanks so much’ sentiment from the Trendy Trees’ stamp set, and stamped the small flower from ‘Flight of the Butterfly’ in Taken with Teal ink. Using the small butterfly I stamped it twice in Regal Rose, and cut around it using my Stampin’ Up! paper snips, then adhered to the card using some mini glue dots to give a litle bit of a lift. I also just tweaked the wings so they would stick out slightly.
Fini!!
It’s worth mentioning that once you have embossed an image, you can then stamp over it. You can get some quite interesting effects as the embossed section doesn’t take on the ink. Try it out!!
EDIT: I’ve added a close up photograph so you can see the clear embossing. Isn’t it just delicious?! I’ve also made the card again, swapping the colours over.
