Creating patterns with your stamps

by Sarah on 09/05/2011

I am so lucky that I have been able to find 5 minutes to make a quick card this weekend. I have used one of the large buttons in the Sweet Stitches button collection and the Crumb Cake Binding ribbon, both brand new and available in the Mini Catalogue.

To make my own pattern paper I used a piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped all over in Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango, using one of the 10 stamps in the stamp set Circle Circus. I felt that the pattern needed another colour so I stamped the smallest circle pattern in Chocolate Chip, which is again from Circle Circus. I think Circle Circus has to be my favourite stamp set for creating patterned backgrounds.

To create the gathered ribbon effect along the card I simply stuck a piece of our Sticky Strip down, across the front and round both sides about 1cm. Then I just took the binding ribbon and placed it along the line of sticky strip, pinching it and turning it slightly as I went. To finish the card theres just a little bit if tearing, and matting and layering onto Crumb Cake (formerly Kraft) and Chocolate Chip. Then of course sticking the yummy button in place.

That’s all for now, I hope you like my card. It’s a lovely sunny day here again, time to hang the washing out! xx

‘Just for you’ Love Letter

by Sarah on 18/03/2011

I have stacks and stacks of Stampin’ Up! pattern paper. I seem to hoard it because I can’t bring myself to cut into it. I love all Stampin’ Up! papers. Today I told myself that enough is enough. I chose the lovely paper collection called ‘Love Letter’ and simply cut it into strips, laying them up next to each other. I have taken some of the Real Red satin ribbon to wrap around the front to create a bow. The sentiment is from ‘Just Believe’ and fits beautifully into the 1-3/4″ x 7/8″ oval punch. I then backed this with a Riding Hood Red scallop oval. This card layout can be tweaked so easily, just choose your pattern paper and pick two colours that are featured in it for the base and border card stock. You can also change the sentiment.

So go on, don’t be afraid to cut into those patterned papers. You can always treat yourself to more… ;)

Stampin’ Up! Products used:

Cardstock: Riding Hood Red (116205), Very Vanilla (106550).

Stamp Set: Just Believe. (Wood 116948) (Clear 120453)

Pattern Paper: Love Letter (117162).

Punches: 1-3/4″ x 7/8″ Oval (119855), Scallop Oval (119856)

Ink: Basic Black (101179).

Embellishments: 5/8″ (1.6cm) Real Red Satin Ribbon (117286).

Adhesive: SNAIL (104332), Dimensionals (104430).

A new baby…

by Sarah on 17/02/2011

Just to let you all know that I had my gorgeous little baby on Saturday. He was a little unexpected as he decided he wanted out 4 weeks and 1 day early. I am resting up and crossing off the days until we can all have a big cuddle and for him to come home.  Get well soon Matthew <3.

Thank you to all my customers and all those in our Pink Ladies/Lads team who have sent us their best wishes and cards.

There’s a little over a week left for Sale-a-bration, so if you would like to place an order for Stampin’ Up! products, please can you direct your email to my dear friend Michelle Last. She will be happy to take your order while I am a little busy! xx

(Stampers 10 and Ink Pad and Marker Pen club members, please still direct your monthly orders my way.)

Punch Bunch Baby Card

by Sarah on 08/01/2011

Today’s card is a baby card I have made for my cousin who has just had a baby girl, Emily. Congratulations Dan and Christy <3

The Punch Bunch Sale-a-bration stamp set has some gorgeous stamps in it that can be used to make a variety of cards. I adore the ‘Welcome baby’ stamp with the baby mobile on it holding five little rubber duckies. Sweet! That stamp fits perfectly in the tag punch.

I have used Pink Pirouette for the base card and Rose Red for the borders. The animals are from the stamp set ‘Fox and Friends’ which I thought were perfect for this baby card. I have used Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Crumb Cake ink.

The Congratulations stamps are from a Sale-a-bration stamp set from 2 years ago, which I am so glad I earned free when I was a customer back then. I find my Sale-a-bration stamp sets are the ones I bring out time and time again, so they’re so worth earning while you can!

Owl Punch Bunch Card

by Sarah on 07/01/2011

Here is a really quick and simple card I have made using the lovely owl from the Sale-a-bration Punch Bunch stamp set.

I first stamped the owl in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla cardstock and coloured in his belly, beak and eyes using Stampin’ Up! Markers Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake. I then cut him out and raised him up on foam pads. The leaf branch is punched from Garden Garden cardstock using the Two-Step Bird punch. I have selected the woodgrain look paper from the designer paper collection Woodland Walk. I used the Oval punch and layers a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock behind to make the owl appear as he is sitting in a hole in the tree. The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations, and layered using the Oval and Scallop Oval punch.

I hope you like!
