Hello everyone! I have something a little different for you today.

I have finally plucked up the courage to record a video for you all. Now I’m no professional, but with my phone I’ve managed to record, then upload, convert, upload again, and somehow managed to get this up online. Hi everyone, I hope you have all had a good bank holiday. Now I feel a little confused and feel like it’s Saturday today, not a Friday.  I’m not quite sure how I will feel come Tuesday! I have spent part of my day on my workshop helper note books which everyone in my team will be receiving and also to any new member of my team. For today’s card I thought I would give you some ‘Beyond the Garden’ inspiration.

(122342) Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper

I have used Wild Wasabi for the base card, then stamped a leaf from Autumn Splendor in Whisper White Craft Ink.

I cut a length of Daffodil Delight card and punched along the bottom with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. The border punch leaves a perfect little gap inbetween the semi circles, for placing the small pearls. I cut a piece of paper from my free Beyond the Garden paper pack, and stuck it to the Daffodil Delight card. I raised this up on the card by sticking it down with Dimensional Foam Pads. I placed a few more pearls in the centre of the flowers, then finished with a length of Twill Tape and tied in a bow.

The colours in this pattern paper go perfectly with both the Subtles and Brights cardstock packs, so you can make lots of cards and all the colours work well together. Why did I become a Demonstrator, and why do I think you should too?

Here’s my story..

I joined Stampin’ Up! 3 years ago when I finished my Fashion and Textiles degree and was looking for some ‘work’ that I could do part time. I was a customer of Stampin’ Up! products for just under 6 months when I decided to become a Demonstrator. In the beginning I joined for the discount that I would receive on all products that I ordered, but in the back of my mind I was thinking about starting a local monthly craft group. I could see the potential in running my own Stampin’ Up! business from the comfort of my own home.

I believed so strongly in the products that Stampin’ Up! sold, as a customer I was so impressed with the quality of all products, ink pads to card stock, pattern paper to embellishments. I knew that I could really make a go of my business with a fantastic product range behind me.

I started this blog instantly and I have been very lucky that my website has reached so many people who are now monthly loyal customers and friends. Over time some of my customers have joined my team of demonstrators, which is fantastic!  (Please note that you do not have to start a blog when you become a demonstrator) 

In the beginning I remember talking to my upline Michelle Last and can recall saying that I was worried I wouldn’t meet my minimum sales requirement. Michelle was so lovely, as always and assured me that I would have no problems in meeting my target. I am pleased to say she was right, I met my sales requirement in just one month of being a demonstrator, when I had 3 months to do this. I sold a little over four times my sales target in the allocated time.

Now 3 years on I am mummy to 1 year old Matthew and I couldn’t have asked for a  better job. My time is more precious now and being a demonstrator means that I can be more flexible with my working hours and allocate my time to Stampin’ Up! when I can.

As for my downline, I currently have 6 lovely members in my direct team, both men and women. They live all over the UK, from Birmingham to Cardiff, Southport to Lancaster. Underneath my downline there are a further 10 demonstrators. My team is just growing and growing, and I hope you will join us too.

The best thing to come out of becoming a demonstrator is meeting so many lovely people, both demonstrators and customers, who are creative just like me. At times I have felt that I was all alone with my passion for papercrafts, but I really wasn’t. There is probably someone that you know who crafts too and you just don’t know it.

Hello everyone, today I hope to show you a step by step account of how I made my son’s first birthday invitations – as promised!

When the Stampin’ Idea Book & Catalogue was released in October, I flicked throught he first few pages and instantly fell in love with ‘Elebration’ This gorgeous little elephant is so cute and holding a birthday cake with one candle ontop. How perfect is this stamp set?

Elebration (121175 – wood mount) £8.85

It is very important when making invitations that you start by searching out your envelopes. How many invitations do you need? What envelopes do you have in your envelope box at the moment? I always have a stack of envelopes in my wedding stationery stock, so I am lucky that I have some envelopes on hand. I have chosen a square envelope which is 155mm x 155mm. Stampin’ Up! have some smooth whisper white and very vanilla envelopes, C5 in size, if you are looking to purchase a posh envelope for a special lot of cards or invitations.

The envelope you choose will determine the size of your invitation. I am going to be making a small run of ‘pocket style’ invitations. This style is very simple to do, you just need your paper trimmer, with cutting and scoring blade, a circle punch for the thumb hole and sticky strip.

Seeing as my envelope is 155mm x 155mm I can create my pocket to be 150mm x 150mm. Using a full A4 sheet , I have scored at the half way point and cut the cardstock at 17cm, leaving the full 29.7 length. Next you score at 1cm, then again at 16cm. Here we have our basic pocket shape.

Peek-a-boo!!

The Creative Elements stamp set from Stampin’ Up! just has to be one of my favourite stamp sets at the moment. I love to create repeat background with my stamps and thought that the sunflower in the set was just perfect for this. I went for a natural/vintage look with this card as I think natural tones, mixed with our brand new vintage crochet is just stunning!

Here is a close up detail of that beautiful crochet trim, I have used Chantilly on this card. This piece was no longer than 6 cm, which just give you another reason not to throw away anything! Tiny ribbon pieces which look like scraps are perfect for cute little bows.

At the bottom of the card I have punched a shape out of Natural Ivory using the Decorative Label punch. Then stamped my sentiment and decorative flourish, used the paper piecing tool to pierce two holes and inserted two silver tone brads. The piece is stuck down with two dimensional foam pads. I feel the ‘Naturals Ivory’ card stock on page 95 is often overlooked, 40 sheets for £6.25 works out to be 16p a sheet! Bargain!
